Before I started researching the topic of World War 2 and the Holocaust, all I knew was what I had been taught in world history. In world history we learn what lead to World War 2 and how it started. We then do an overview of the war and talk about how it ended. We barely touched upon the subject of the Holocaust. All I knew was major facts that everybody else knows. I think that is why I was so intrigued by this topic. I wanted to find out all the small facts that not a lot of people knew about. And when researching, I did exactly that and it was such an interesting experience.
The most satisfying thing about the whole project was learning more and more every week. Every fact that you learned was a basis for another fact. I love things that just build into something beautiful. For example, like a music note. One note played alone is pretty, but then you add another note and it becomes better. You add one more note and then it becomes a chord. From there you can make a song that is beautiful. That was the most satisfying thing for me in this journey. Each fact just kept building and fitting into a piece of the puzzle until all the facts fit together and became this amazing story of strong will and determination.
One thing someone looking at my evidence could infer from me is that when my mind is set on something that I am interested in I get really focused in it. For example, with the blog post about Hitler, I could have written a book on that if you asked me too. I find him so interesting as a person. I love finding everything out about something I’m interested in. Another thing someone could infer from my blog is that I have a tendency to try to see the best in a situation or person. If someone is mean or rude I always try to see the best in them. I think I does this because I want people to see the best in me. I guess you could say I am an optimist and I try to convey that as much as possible.
I think my next year’s teacher should know that when I set my mind to something, I get it done. Once I decide I’m going to do something, nothing can stop me. Unless, of course, the world ends. I am a very determined person. I also, like I mentioned before, try to stay as positive as possibly in every situation. So many people in this world have it so much harder than we do, so I always try to stay happy.
